Hello Friends,

Thank you for your prayers – I continue to feel them. I did get biopsy results today. They are not the results that we were praying for; the nodule on my lung is cancer. The lab is going to run a few more tests, but the oncologist says that given my health history (non-smoker, healthy) this cancer is very likely the colon cancer spread to my lungs (ie, metastatic). We are proceeding on that assumption.

On the positive side, the tumor has not grown and there continues to be just 1 small nodule (1.6 cm) in my left lung (that’s not what metastatic cancer in the lungs usually looks like). This would indicate that surgery is a good treatment option. The oncologist will be discussing this option with pulmonologists and the surgery, if it happens, would likely be late July/early August. For now, I continue on my regular chemo regiment (I am getting treatment #5 today-Friday), with regular scans to monitor the spot on my lung and make sure more don’t appear. Thanks for praying! Gracias por sus oraciones — sigo sintiéndolas. Hoy recibí los resultados de la biopsia. No son los resultados por los que estábamos orando; el nódulo en mi pulmón es cáncer. El laboratorio va a hacer algunas pruebas adicionales, pero el oncólogo dice que, dada mi historia médica (no fumador, saludable), es muy probable que este cáncer sea el cáncer de colon que se ha extendido a mis pulmones (es decir, metastásico). Estamos procediendo con esa suposición.

En el lado positivo, el tumor no ha crecido y sigue habiendo solo un nódulo pequeño (1.6 cm) en mi pulmón izquierdo (eso no es lo que normalmente se ve en un cáncer metastásico en los pulmones). Esto indicaría que la cirugía es una buena opción de tratamiento. El oncólogo estará hablando de esta opción con los neumólogos, y la cirugía, si se realiza, probablemente sería a finales de julio o principios de agosto.

Por ahora, continúo con mi régimen regular de quimioterapia (hoy—viernes estoy recibiendo el tratamiento #5), con estudios regulares para monitorear el punto en mi pulmón y asegurarnos de que no aparezcan más.
