One more round…

October 17, 2026

Friends, thank you so much for your prayers, calls, texts, encouragement, meals, rides, financial gifts, and all the other ways you have supported me on this journey.

Two weeks ago, I completed round 11 of chemo. The doctor gave me a significantly reduced dose because the really nasty chemo drug (Oxaliplatin) was starting to cause significant neuropathy (numbness/loss of feeling) in my fingers and toes. The result of getting the lower dose was that I did not feel nearly as bad as I had felt on the previous rounds. Very thankful for that!

And now…the twelfth and final round! The analogy to a heavyweight boxing match has not escaped me – it has often felt like that! After two surgeries and eleven rounds of chemo, I am VERY ready to be done. I will go in this Monday, 10/19, for what should (we hope and pray) be my last “chemo lemon” (a 46-hour dose of a drug called Fluorouracil IV). November will bring a number of scans to confirm that I am, in fact, cancer free.

I am so grateful to be at this point. Truly, I have felt the prayers that so many of you have been praying. Thank you! My cancer journey is not quite over, but the end appears to be in sight. I will keep you posted. In the meantime, please continue praying!

Thanksgivings/praises:

  • For Jesus sustaining me through your prayers!
  • For some really sweet afternoons hanging out with my grandson, Graham!
  • For my family and the staff, board, students and volunteers at Casa del Lago, who have been a tremendous source of support and encouragement to me!

Prayer requests:

  • For this final round of chemotherapy to rid my body of any remaining cancer
  • For friends TC, BA, AG, ML and others who are battling cancer
  • For the Lord to restore full feeling in my fingers and toes

Grace and peace!

¡Gracia y paz!
